Individual Therapy
I believe in a humanistic approach to counseling that places the individual above all modalities and theories. You’re the culmination of a lifetime of experiences, thoughts, and relationships. You’re infinitely more complex that any one theory/modality can possibly do justice. Everyone is on a different journey. We'll collaborate on generating self-awareness and insight. We'll create a set of tools and new perspectives that will enable positive change.
When appropriate to the needs of the client and our treatment plan, I’ll pull from many different counseling approaches such as existentialism, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). Existentialism is a model that emphasizes the process of making meaning out of life, and is appropriate for those seeking guidance in developing that meaning. For others, CBT and ACT are appropriate approaches. They are both evidenced-based, goal-oriented approaches that help people recognize and change unhelpful thinking patterns and explore how their behavior, emotions, and thoughts are connected and can be changed to improve our lives dramatically.
